It’s that spooky time of year when we see sugar levels rise along with tantrums and sugar crashes.
As parents we are frightened.
Worse is the nutritional impact that happens.
Good eating habits fly out the door like bats!
So what to do?
There are many options.
How about pumpkin based recipes? Pumpkin Bread, Pumpkin Pudding, or this lovely Brain Dip?
Treat your cute little Tricksters with bags of trail mix or nuts.
Pencils, erasers, little notebooks and my personal favorite BUBBLES! All make nice sugar free alternatives.
Surviving Halloween Tips
1. Serve a well balanced meal before hand. I personally focus the entire week of heavy protein and heavy fiber meals to counter the sugar.
2. Trade the sugar for healthy snacks.
3. Save the candy for using on presents and in candy bowls at major parties so it’s shared by a larger group.
4. Take it to work and share. As adults we often miss the fun of Halloween and the candy and it’s really nice to find someone treated us.
